Do you dream of working from home, being your own boss, and owning your own business? If so, you may want to consider becoming a virtual assistant (VA).

Virtual assistants are independent contractors who provide administrative assistance and other services to businesses and individuals who have too much work to handle. Though the services that a VA offers can vary, they typically include typing, transcription, research, editing, writing, proofreading, bulk mailings, and basic secretarial duties.

If you're wondering how you can get started in this field, a new book has been published on the subject. Titled Virtual Assistant- The Series: Become a Highly Successful Sought After VA , the book was written by two established and successful VAs--Diana Ennen and Kelly Poelker.

The book is so thorough that it is being used as a textbook for virtual assistant programs in colleges across the United States and Canada. If you are interested in learning more, read the full book review:

I have read the VA book you’re recommending, but I have to say it is not as well written as others.

I received The 2-Second Commute: Join the Exploding Ranks of Freelance Virtual Assitants when I attended training at the US Air Force Academy (hosted at Peterson AFB, I am a military spouse) and bought “the Series” afterward.

I was disappointed in the content and the low-level delivery, as well as the homemade look and feel of the book.

As an opinion from someone who has read both, I feel the 2-second commute is a much stronger resource for those who are serious about starting a successful VA business.
