Top Business Schools

Sunday August 27, 2006
Business school rankings have had a major impact on business schools themselves. Many schools now employ full time workers whose jobs are devoted to improving the ranking status of the school. Some experts claim that the effort to increase a school’s status in the business school rankings is a waste of time, money, and resources. However, there is no denying the effect business school rankings have on a school’s brand name and marketability.

Yes. Love them or hate them, business school rankings are important. Top business schools turn out highly sought-after graduates. School reputation is important. The more ties a business school has with different industries and employers, the better. Top business schools also tend to attract the greatest volume of recruiters and offer the best opportunities for new graduates.

However, you should never judge a school based on business school rankings alone. Schools that are less prominent may have a program that suits your needs and aspirations better than any nationally ranked schools. Lesser known regional schools can also be a good choice if you plan to stay in the area. Often times, these schools have the strongest relationships with local industries and employers.
