Friday June 20, 2008
BusinessWeek published a great article yesterday about five of the most common ways applicants can sabotage their essays.
The mistake that topped the list was TMI (Too Much Information.) I wholeheartedly agree with this assessment. Some applicants share WAY too much of their personal lives and traumas in essays.
While admissions committees want to get a sense of who you are, they don't need to know all of the nitty gritty details. It is much better to focus on writing content that demonstrates why you fit into the business or leadership mold.
