New GMAT Practice Question

There have been 21 GMAT questions posted on the blog over the last 21 weeks.

Here is question #22 (from Integrated Learning.)

GMAT Practice Question:

The average of three positive integers is 44 and the median is 42. What is the least possible value of the greatest of the three numbers?

A) 6
B) 42
C) 48
D) 89
E) 128

The numbers are 1, 42, 89.

the answer is 48.

The median is the middle number.

42 42 48 = 132

132/3 = 44 (the given average)

Therefore, the smallest of possibility for the greatest number is

48
