Project Management Information for Business Majors

Project management is a wonderful specialization for business majors who like to take the reigns. Project managers initiate, plan, and execute ideas. There is a great need for qualified project managers in today's business world.

Project Management Coursework
Business majors who specialize in project management will find that coursework covers the same required subjects regardless of the school that you attend. These subjects are: communications, cost, human resources, integration, quality, risk management, procurement, scope, and time.

Educational Requirements
The minimum education required for a job in project management is typically a bachelor's degree. Some business majors take it a step further and get an MBAin project management or a dual degree that will make them more marketable.

Business majors interested in pursuing the project management specialization typically do not have problems locating bachelor degree programs with this focus. MBA programs, however, can be more difficult to find. This doesn't mean that there aren't any good programs, it simply means that you have to search a little harder to locate them than you would if you were looking to specialize in marketing or finance.

Working in Project Management
Although project management is still a relatively new profession, it fast growing sector in business. More and more organizations are turning to business majors who have academic training in project management. You can choose to work for one company or you can star your own consulting firm.
