Case Study Abstract: David Raines is an experienced senior manager who wants to create a business that would employ him and provide for his family when he chose to retire. He also feels the pull of building his own enterprise and in turn wants to help others in his rural locality. Having recently been made redundant he is actively on the look-out for a business opportunity. He is offered a delivery franchise. David wants to leave his mark as an entrepreneur, but his experience of the “new” enterprise culture was at best limited. However he feels that the franchise opportunity is too good to miss. The case study details the background of Richard O’Connor and allows for students to decide whether or not the opportunity detailed should be taken.
