We have a very low teacher turnover. Many of them have stayed with us for years and never left. Or sometimes they left and rejoined after trying things on their own or with other companies. Sometimes they move around the world and we are able to offer teaching opportunities in their new locations and they love the flexibility!
We offer very competitive teaching rates, but we do not believe compensation should be the sole or the predominant reason to motivate an instructor. Rather, finding a way to make it the best fit for both parties in the long run is more effective. For example, we are able to work with our instructors in terms of their preference of teaching subject, schedule, location, the type of courses and the level of students. Since we offer a wide variety of test prep courses and career skills building / management training workshops, many of our lead instructors enjoy teaching various subjects and find them more interesting and rewarding as a lot of these instructors are often times very senior in their corporate or academic careers. That is why we are able to retain many top-notch instructors. You can check out their bios on our website. Many of these instructors worked for larger test prep companies but opted to stay with us and found home with us.
Ten years ago, I started Manhattan Review when I was pursuing my doctoral degree at Columbia Business School. After some of my students asked me to help their friends study for the GMAT, I created a series of GMAT teaching notes and problems to focus on time-efficient content-based GMAT preparation, as opposed to the so-called tricks and tips based material. I taught the majority of GMAT courses for Manhattan Review up till 2004. With more than 15 years of teaching experience at college and graduate level, I am now a tenured professor at Lancaster University Management School in England leading a team of 8 doctoral students and teach MBAs and advise them on field projects. Through my connections with the faculty of business schools worldwide, Manhattan Review is able to recruit a lot of talent through referrals from various professors who can bring high-quality instruction to our classes.
I continue to be involved in Manhattan Review’s academic development and our GMAT teaching philosophy is adhering to the best and highest quality teaching practice and principals.
Does Manhattan Review offer a money-back guarantee or an increased score guarantee?
Manhattan Review’s Better Score Guarantee offers more to students than any other prep company in the business. Students are allowed free, unlimited access to our In-Person and Online Courses if they do not achieve their target score required for their applications on their first official test. In addition, these students will have access to our 100+ hours Online Library, consultation with our experts to identify any needs for one-on-one tutoring, and our excellent support staff. Our goal is to keep working with you until you achieve your target score.
Can students try Manhattan Review for free?
Certainly. We offer monthly free GMAT Strategy and How to Get Into A Top MBA Program workshops. They are conducted by our lead instructors. We also offer free 20 minutes MBA candidacy evaluation, in which we offer more personalized attention and higher quality than our larger peers. Students can sit in on any of our in-person or online classes without charge and, we are proud to say, the majority sign up with us.
To round out B-school applicants’ experience outside of the GMAT, we also have an MBA tour called MBA Gate. The format is round-table Q&A, business school fair and career skills building seminars. It is entirely free to attendees. The MBA Gate fair has a history staring in 2000. It focuses on honing young professionals’ career building skills and providing face-to-face in-depth interaction with business schools around the world. Students can take our complimentary Job Interview or Presentation Skills workshops and sit down at a round table with business schools for an in-depth Q&A. At the fair, we will also offer complimentary GMAT Strategy and MBA Admissions seminars.
Why should students choose Manhattan Review over another GMAT prep course?
The quality of our teachers is considered one of the top reasons to attend our classes and we make every effort to assure that our students are provided with the best learning environment. All of our teachers hold an MBA or PhD from top universities in the US, UK or Continental Europe (e.g. Columbia, Stanford, LBS, INSEAD, LSE). In addition, we require them to have extensive experience teaching corporate or graduate-level classes or tutoring at top business schools. After each course we request an anonymous course evaluation of our teaching staff and immediately address any areas where suggestions are made.
We understand that the GMAT prep business is not just a numbers game; it’s a people business and at the end of the day. Students need teachers and support staff that understand the challenges they face and help them gain confidence level and overcome the hurdles. We also advocate a combination of classroom learning and 1-on-1 learning. Once a student has demonstrated an area of weakness, we advise the student to develop a targeted learning plan.
Manhattan Review’s main goal is to offer you the most total package available on the GMAT prep market. We offer more hours (classroom hours + 100+ hours unlimited access to live online recordings) than any of our competitors, while most of our services are much more affordable than those of other test prep courses. Founded in 1999, we have a decade of experience getting people into top MBA programs. Our students’ successful track record of getting into their target schools is the best testament to our quality! Just take a look at our website for student testimonials. Of course, last but not least, another excellent reason for you as an About.com Reader is that you can take our GMAT Prep course and/or MBA admissions consulting service at a great discount!
